A Shropshire Lad by A. E. Housman, hand-bound in genuine leather by LeatheredLines. A. E. Housman paid for the first edition of A Shropshire Lad himself in 1896, but its sixty-three short lyrics became hugely popular, especially during the First World War. Simple in form and haunting in feeling, they evoke an idealised English countryside, lost youth, love and early death. Many have been set to music.
About this leather-bound edition
Each copy is bound by hand in genuine leather over sturdy boards, with decorative tooling and gold-tone foil lettering on the spine. Natural variation in grain, shade and foil impression is part of the character of every handmade book, so no two copies are exactly alike.
The thickness and weight of the finished book depend on the length of this particular title. Longer works make a noticeably thicker volume, while shorter works are slimmer.
