Against the Grain by Joris-Karl Huysmans, hand-bound in genuine leather by LeatheredLines. Joris-Karl Huysmans's 1884 novel, À rebours, follows the jaded aristocrat Des Esseintes, who withdraws from society to a house outside Paris to live entirely for art, scent, books and refined sensations, even encrusting a tortoise with jewels. The bible of the Decadent movement, it is believed to have inspired the "yellow book" of Wilde's Dorian Gray.
About this leather-bound edition
We cover every book in genuine leather by hand, finishing the spine with gold-tone foil titling and decorative tooling in the tradition of fine library bindings. Because each copy is made individually, small variations in leather grain and colour are a natural sign of handwork.
The thickness and weight of the finished book depend on the length of this particular title. Longer works make a noticeably thicker volume, while shorter works are slimmer.
